So the unthinkable (unless you were this writer a few weeks ago …) has happened.
We just had to finish a game with only two receivers available.
So what do we do in the meantime?
There is the possibility that Jones will be back on the field versus the Browns this weekend. While that is the hoped outcome, you do not want to put more on a player returning from injury than you must. Jones back would be great, but it would be best to limit what he has to do.
Even so at this point, we are still only at three receivers.
Ted, it is time. We all know you are probably looking to Myles White or even at other team’s practice squads.
Please do not do that. Trade for a good player.
I brought it up last week, and I still think it is the best option is Kenny Britt.
Britt has 153 receptions so far in his career for a nice 15.8 yard average, more than 2,400 yards receiving, and 19 touchdowns.
The thing that is not brought up is that Britt has not had the luxury of a great quarterback to help him utilize his talent. He has had the likes of Vince Young, Kerry Collins, and Matt Hasselbeck throwing to him. While those are decent options, none of them are close to what Aaron Rodgers is. He can turn Britt into a star.
Mr. Thompson, trade for Britt. He is in a contract year, will not take up much salary cap, and will be out of your hair next year if it does not pay dividends.
